I have a domain already in place and the past administrator didn't put the .com after our domain name. Is it possible to start another domain with the same name just with the .com to merge everyone into it.

Example can abc. and abc.com be in the same network or would this cause a problem.

This is not possible with Win2K since this will have to
be in two forests. The abc.com domain will actually
resolve to abc.com. So I think you will have to create a
forest. Cross forest trusts will not be possible in
Win2K.

Hi-

Yes you can build a new domain by starting a new Forest with the correct DNS
name and then begin an inter-forest migration. With a properly configured
and operating DNS infrastructure you should not encounter problems with the
2 distinct names.
