If I have a registered internet domain name of xyz.com,
can I have my internal domain name be xyz.com? I've
heard that it can cause problem. Would it be better to
have my external domain name be different from my internal
domain name to avoid any problems?

Thanks

Make sure you not use same DNS zone or DNS server to serve an external DNS
as internal AD dns. if you run a webpage on the external dns. you have to
put a www CNAME to your internal AD domain DNS as well other records that
should be accessed from the internal network

Most companies like this will name their Internal domain something like
local.xyz.com or corp.xyz.com to avoid potential problems with their
External xyz.com name.
