domain migration: user profiles

hello,

soon we will move our ad from w2k3 to w2008. several reasons prevent
to do a ad-migration. so we will build a new domain from scratch and
rejoin all 2500 windows xp clients from the old domain to the new. do
you know about some tools to support the client migration part.
especially i am interested in tools to help to move user profiles to
the new domain (which will have a new name).

This is what is called a domain migration. With domain migrations there is
the problem with user profiles and you could look into ADMT to see if that
works for you. If you were you upgrade your existing domain controllers, or
add a Win 2k8 DC to the domain and transfer roles etc... to the Win 2k8
server then demote and remove the Win 2k3 servers you will upgrade your
domain without the hassle of removing clients from one domain, adding them
to the new domain and the client profile problems that come with moving to a
new domain.
