One day, the logon screen of one of my W2K domain controller started looking
different. The username became administrator@domain instead of just
administrator, and the Domain selection field has greyed out. This is no
problem in logging in though.
Any help to explain what has happened, and possible ways to restore to the
original format would be highly appreciated.

Remove the @domain part from the username.

You can authenticate with your fully qualified domain name as well as your
NT Username. As the fully qualified name includes the domain the Domain
selection filed is automatically greyed out. You could try
DOMAIN\Administrator or (e-mail address removed). The last person to log on
must have used the fully qualified name.
