Hi,

Install: Win2K, SP4.

I've reviewed recent posts on a lost pwd for admin account. My situation has
a nuance:
I disconnected from a domain(the PDC/BDC, etc. I wasn't actually connected
to any longer) and restarted without making note of the effects of that
action when I rebooted. I have now no way I know of to log onto Windows.
I think there were a few other accounts on the machine but I don't recall
the specific names or the pwd's. Will the links that provide utilities for
pwd exposure get me the user names/ also. Will I encounter any additional
problems logging onto this installation of Win2K given that I removed myself
from this domain and 'started' to set up a workgroup?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
JPM

Yes those solutions will work. You will need to logon as the built in local
administrator account. The ability to logon as any domain account is gone
for ever for you. You still can access any unencrypted files [possibly
encrypted ones also] on the computer as a local administrator but you may
have to "take" ownership of the folder/file first and then give yourself
full control permissions. The links below explain more on how to do that and
even though for XP Pro it applies to Windows 2000 also though there is no
simple file sharing in Windows 2000.. --- Steve
