Hi, for some reason the 2nd DC I have created won't
display any Event Logs, it keeps saying access denied.
Also I can only log on with the administrator account and
no other account, not even mine and I am in most admin
groups. It seems to let me change user passwords and
replicate this to the 1st DC. What have I done wrong it's
like a locked down read only server!

Kind Regards

Andy

Don't know if you're doing auditing, but sometimes the security logs fill up
if the size wasn't increased and/or wrap, and will cause issues so check
that, and if not it, see if you can view these from a different machine
(this uses different rights) and also what the permissions on the evt files
and the others (eventvwr.exe msc etc).

Andy:

I had a similar problem...I could not read any of the Event Log's, I would
get "Access Denied". With the exception of the Security Log.

After about 2 days of troubleshooting...I realized that someone put my
administrator account in the "Guests" and "Domain Guests" groups. This
restricted the administrator account from viewing the logs. If your account
is not a member of the those groups make sure you check your policies for
which accounts are being restricted access to event logs.
