Mr. Novice

Is there a registry key that can be queried to tell if a
2000 server is a domain controller in an AD domain or not?

Thanks!

Hi

This info is stored in the registry value ProductType (REG_SZ) under the key
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ProductOptions

Possible values:
WinNT --> Workstation (Win2k/WinXP Pro, NT4 Workstation)
ServerNT --> Standalone or member server
LanmanNT --> Domain controller
