I have a laptop from work which signs onto a domain at work over a
wireless network, which I want to add to my 2-computer desktop network
at home. The laptop has a NIC card to plug into a wired network. It
runs XP Pro. I am a local administrator on it, not a domain
administrator.
My home network uses an older wired dialup connection with the host
computer running XP Pro and the client running SE98.
I can browse the Internet OK with the laptop but I also want all the
computers to be able to share their files.
I changed my home workgroup name to the same name as the domain name,
and then the laptop could finally see my home computers (I have to
look thru the Entire Network > MS Windows Network but at least it
works), but I can't seem to find a way to have my home computers see
the laptop.
I tried to view the laptop from the XP Pro dekstop; I can ping the
laptop and i tried mapping the drive, but then I get a password box
popup and no matter which signon name and password I use, (I tried all
of them I could think of, including just an empty pw box) it keeps
asking for a name and pw. I am not sure what name and pw it wants! If
it wants the domain administrator for the laptop, I don't have access
to that information.
There must be some setting on the laptop that is not configured
correctly?
How can I get my home desktops to see the laptop files?
