Hello, hope someone out there has seen this. My client is
running a pure 2k network, 1 server, 8 clients. We just
did a dcpromo last week, and been troubleshooting, adding
features since. We've got DNS of course, WINS (no clients
are using it), and DHCP. He's been using PCAnywhere at a
remote office to access schedule and billing data on the
server. We're behind firewalls on DSL at both locations.
We are now including a VPN solution on the server. He
tries to run his network, as he can't afford my help all
the time. Anyway, sometime after setting up the VPN, we
noticed some client issues w/the server--that is, no
connectivity. On a fresh boot, the clients will login to
the domain, and map a drive to the server, and access
data. A few minutes later of idle time, and the server
will no longer accept network requests. We have not
tested the VPN access as of yet. Event Viewer had shown
some errors w/MSMQ which I have reinstalled and re-applied
SP4. MSMQ is running fine now. Only event that is
interesting to me is that it can't validate itself in
DNS. Like the service isn't running or something. Except
the service is started, and the cheesy queries in DNS
props pass.
If anyone has an idea or direction to look into, please
reply....
