Doing a search dor user-defined fields

I need to add a significant number of user defined fields and then perform a
search. I was able to add to new fields, but the only way I could search for
them was the "advanced search" mode which is very slow. Any suggestions?
 
Hi James,

in your regular view, use Field Chooser and drag&drop those custom fields in
your view. By clicking on one them your view will sort by that columns, and
when you do a quick search (just highlight an item and start typing) the
sorted column is the one who will be searched in.

If you need to do a search that includes parameters from several fields, you
are back to advanced search. If you repeat the same type of searches often,
make search folders to save your search selections and just click on them to
get an updated result.
