Of course I know what dog boarding is. But somehow, as I read the
subject I pictured it being like snow boarding -- and my second
thought was, "Wonder how they attach the bindings?"

I need a program that I can use to run a boarding kennel.

Thanks Daphne

All I could find that was directly related was shareware
http://www.noatak.com/software/kenman/noatprog.asp?cat=Software&scat=Freeware
(Although the link says freeware it ain't)

Freshmeat (http://www.freshmeat.net) and Sourceforge
(http://sourceforge.net) both came up negative searching for "kennel".

What exactly do you mean by "run"? Any half decent office suite (e.g.
Open Office - http://www.openoffice.org) will give you spreadsheet
capabilities to keep data, a "MS Word" style document processor, mail
merge, etc, etc. If you've got a more specific requirement (e.g.
scheduling) I'm sure others could come up with ideas.

Gordon

I need to track medications, in and out for boarding, owners names and
addresses, etc. It's like a hotel for dogs.

That would be a good trick to master.<ROTFLOL>

http://sourceforge.net/projects/sheltermanager/
Animal Shelter Manager is a complete computer solution for animal
sanctuaries and rescue shelters. Features complete animal management,
document generation, full reporting, charts, internet website publishing,
PetFinder integration and more.

Nice find, Wxxx.

Daphne, see if this list of features is adequate (it even mentions
innoculation records and scheduling). If so you can disregard the
payware applications that have been prematurely recommended, and which
would best be discussed in alt.comp.shareware.

I'd completely forgotten about Animal Shelter Manager (and I get the
Freshmeat Daily newsletter - doh!) and that might be a start.

I've a friend who is involved with a care home (human not animal!) and he
uses Excel to track medication and has a master Database of clients also
in Excel. OpenOffice Calc would do the same. The time consuming bit
would be to set up the templates. If you wanted reminders you would also
have to get your head round Star Basic.

Hope you get a solution that fits.

Check out InfoAngel by angelic software. Its structure could fit your
requirements. A dog's photo can even be inserted in the name/add section.
The Tree based data collections like Keynote or TreeDBnotes likely would
work out as well. TreeDBnotes has a tabbed format across the top as well as
the main theme tree style nodes down the left side of the main page.

InfoAngel imports files from Treepad and Keynotes so a combination of those
two might work out for you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've downloaded a few packages and you've
given me ideas for searching.

It seems to have made you paws for thought.
