Doesn't display contacts

A colleague of mine has created some Contacts and when you e-mail direct from
the Contacts window using the 'send e-mail to contact' icon, it works fine.

However, when you go into create a new message, click onto To and select
Contacts, they don't appear? The only thing you can see are his distribution
lists.

Any idea how this has happened and how do we rectify it??

Thank you.

If the folder in which the contacts are stored enabled as an address book?

Hmmm, if he right clicks on his Contacts folder and chooses Properties, is
the "Show this folder as an email address book" box checked on the Outlook
Address Book tab?

Hello

when you go into the Properties, there isn't an 'Outlook Address Book' tab.
It only has General and Home Page....?

There should be another whole row of tabs above those two tabs. I'd have him
double check.

Very odd... Try running a Detect & Repair operation from the Help menu

Unfortunately, he has now left the office and has taken the PC with him!!
I will look at this setting on Monday when he returns and let you know.
I have gone into the Properties of the Contacts on my own laptop and sure
enough, the tab you mention is there.
Very strange......!!
I will contact you again on Monday if that's ok. Thanks very much for your
help so far.

Hello again

I have re-booted his PC, gone into the Properties of his Contacts again and
all the tabs were there? Any way, I ensured the 'show this folder as an
e-mail address book' was ticked. I closed outlook and re-opened it but when
you click onto To... on a new mail and choose Contacts, he now has two
Contacts folders? One contains the ones we couldn't see and the other
contains the original one?

How do I get rid of one of them, so he only has one???

Thank you again.

I don't see your version posted. For Outlook 2003, remove the invalid entry
here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change. >

Hi Russ
THanks very much for this, I will give it a go.
Oh, and yes, I am working on 2003.

Thanks again.
