Does winxpsp2 have a native DVD driver?

I just built a new computer with xpsp2.
One of my drives is marked as a DVD drive.

I am not interested in DVD movies or movie making
or music ripping. All I want to do ir to install games that came on DVD
drives.

I can use my CD's in the drive perfectly well but Newer games are starting
to come out on DVD only.

I have an ASUS INterVideo DVD package that seems to
have some DVD features but I have not installed it yet.

Does anyone know if my DVD drive will read game DVDs with the windows
drivers or do I need a special DVD package? And will the Intervideo package
do it or is there something else I need.

Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated.
