Does Windows Mail mess up servers?

I first used Windows Mail on Vista a few days ago, and the same day found
the mail at the domain I run began to suffer from long delays. Initially it
did not occur to me that the problem had anything to do with Vista, but my
domain host company mentioned that checking mail more often than every 5
minutes could cause problems.

I did have Windows Mail set to check mail every minute, but I had the same
setting under Windows XP before I upgraded to Vista last week. However, if
checking mail too often under XP could mess up a mail server, it would not
be surprising that Vista's Windows Mail could mess up a mail server under
those conditions.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

Not yet I havn't. I check my mail every 1 minute as well, and it pulls and
checks it from a Suse 10.1 linux server without problems. Although I
wouldnt be suprised if a mail server were to slow down if it had hundreds or
thousands of users checking their email every 1 minute.

why not just increase your checking time.
1 minute is a bit drastic.
even 5 minutes is too often.
NOTHING is that important.

I've upped the mail checking intervals and placed fixed storage limits on
the accounts.

I posted a heads-up here in case others are running into mail server
problems after upgrading to Vista. If no one else finds such problems, the
co-occurrence with using Vista may be just a coincidence.

really surprised your ISP has not complained before this.
