Hi,

I'm interested in a windows defender version with centralized management, I
mean a version where you can install windows defender in a certain point of
the network, and from there to scan and control all the other PC's. Does this
version exist?

Thanks in advance,

Forefront Client Security is what you are looking for. I have to say that I
don't fully understand the various options related to this product. There
is a full-blown server management package which is quite expensive, and also
a far less expensive version, and I haven't figured out whether the less
expensive one is for folks who already have SQL Server, or exactly what the
difference is. I've asked my licensing vendor for a quote on this and not
gotten any response, so they may be as perplexed as I am!

Hmm. The agony of choice. That is the problem! While the developers are busy
writing progs that are designed to cater for ones needs. So many versions are
being marketed to the end user at a rate the mind boggles. Not surprisingly,
it is often too difficult to keep track of what is appropriate and useful in
his/her environment. Result? Confusion and indecision ! If you are an MVP
and find it dificult to keep pace with events. Imagine what the company
administrator (not to mention the average user), must be faced with in terms
of constructive comments which may assist a decision making process when
purchasing for his/her company.

I could say the same...

The licensing folks are paid to know what's what, and trained as well.

I need to light a fire under mine, I think.

I've bought and paid for, and been able to register on eopen, client
licenses for SBS Server 2003. but I don't have the physical paper which I
need in order to actually install and make use of the licenses. I suspect
this is Microsoft's to fulfill--but I'd at least like to know that it is in
the pipeline somewhere.

Nah Bill - you`re not old but I think I know what you mean. Progress
overtakes us all at some stage and becomes ever complex. We must learn to
understand and accept when that stage has been reached. Trouble is . If we
are motivated enough. We drive on and events overtake us to the point we
cannot comprehend at a rate which is acceptable anymore. For example. My `old
man` is a very determined 90 this year and thinks I`m an expert that I can
`log on to the internet`and send him to a `home page of his choosing` to
order his groceries thru Tesco!! . To him. I`m an MVP and wonders why I
haven`t been awarded that status. (smile). Last time he ventured there -
200 toilet rolls arrived !! LOL !!

My dad, and my wife's mom, are also 90, fwiw! I'm definitely an MVP from
the perspective of their computer use!

That`s great Bill. Longevity on both sides of the family eh? . That means, In
theory, we should look forward to seeing you on here for many, many, many,
many years to come ... I guess.

Is that a promise, or a threat! <G>

<smile> I would like to think of it as a promise Bill. I`m sure you will have
already figured out that you, your dear wife and siblings, theoretically, can
expect to be with us for a long time. You could even be a `great grand daddy
`one day if they have started propogating early enough!! Just promise to be
on here, giving us good advice on WD, for as long as you feel enthusiastic
enough to do so.

Stay healthy and take care.
