Does it detect rootkits? Is WD performace comparable to Spyware Doctor? Maybe
it is the time to use only one antispyware program.

Hello Joaquin,
Does it detect rootkits?
Jason Joyce (Expert): a Program Manager working on Windows Defender. Said YES
Is WD performace comparable to Spyware Doctor?
I don't know, I never use Spyware Doctor.
Maybe it is the time to use only one antispyware program.
No and Yes.
No.- One is no enough
Yes.- Use only one with RTP

Not all AV scanning engines will find spyware hidden by rootkits.
Though the Sophos command line scanners in David H Lipmans Multi-AV
is excellent for their detection. However, it would be best done outside
the running OS. That is by downloading the Sophos files then booting from a
DOS Boot Disk or a DOS Boot Disk with NTFS4DOS and then scanning the
platform.

You will need to download RootKit Revealer
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/RootkitRevealer.html ; and run a scan.
The log can be submitted to

I know that it does detect some rootkit-based spyware. I've seen it miss
others completely, but that was nearly a year ago--and we've progressed, I
hope.
