Yes, it does. If you are not seeing it then you don't have the correct
hardware and/or video driver.

Yes, Vista Business includes AERO. Possibly your graphics card doesn't
support AERO. You need at least 128 MB of graphics memory and a WDDM driver
for your graphics adapter.

I should have added--it *is on your copy. You may have to do this to show
it up. Make sure that you have an adequate video card (you didn't name it):
You need a WDDM-capable video card and in most cases it needs to have 128MB
RAM although there have been reports of displaying Aero Glass on selected 64
MB RAM cards on these groups and the TBT groups (64MB minimum, 128MB
recommended) and must support the complete DirectX 9 API.

See: www.microsoft.com/technet/abouttn/flash/tips/tips_092805_2.mspx

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_Glass

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsvista/aa905075.aspx

If you have the appropriate requirement in your Video card then:

1) Right click desktop>Personalization>Theme>Aero Glass.

2) Right click desktop>Personalization>Display settings> ensure you take all
these steps:
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/c33fe91a-9e6f-41f4-ae82-3ed2d5fa2fbf1033.mspx

3) Ensure that you have the following registry value set to :
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy set to 2 (32-bit

DWORD)

4)Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges :

- Type 'net stop uxsms'

- Then 'net start uxsms'

5) If there is an advanced display properties tab>troubleshoot tab or
similar

for that card, when you go to Personalization>Display Settings (link towards

bottom) then push the acceleration level all the way to the right, and

enable "Write combing." All of this is dependent on any settings like t

his available at this location.

6) Check that you have the best available driver for that card. This may
entail

calling Tech support for the card at ATI and if there is a driver choice

asking them which driver(s) are working best.

7) Check bios setup settings, and if there is any kind of Aperture setting
for

the card, set it at one half the RAM that the card has.

Good luck,

CH

I dont have a video card on this PC, just the onboard video. I didn't know
if it was a option I could turn on or install. I didnt want to put a card
on here for nothing.
Thanks again.

Yes it does come with Aero. If you are not seeing it then you may have to
upgrade your graphics card. If you know that your graphic card is compatible
then i suggest you follow the instructions on my website:

If you have a card slot for video, inserting a card will disable the onboard
video adaptor. It just happens. You will not neet to turn anything off
manually.

NOT true on my mb--you MUST specify the video adapter (PCI, PCI-X,
or AGP) in the BIOS.

Colin makes a good point Bryan, that I should have made--and I'm not an
aficianado of what on board video cards have Vista capable drivers, but you
should be able to search out that info. If it turns out that yours does
not, it is not all that expensive to buy a decent video card that displays
Aero Glass and Flip 3D. That's a decision according to your needs, how much
hardware you want to add to that computer, and what you'll be getting in the
future. I say that because often when you add the new decent and modestly
priced Video card, you have to have a PSU that is capable of running the
video card and that can add another $100. It's a tendancy for most OEMs to
definitely put low end power supplies in their pcs as a cost factor.

Junk food, actually.

If he has Vista Business, he has the correct Vista. Only Home Basic does
not have Aero.

Mike

To be technical, Home Basic does have Aero, there is a way to get it. However, it does not have Aero Glass.

Windows XP and Windows Vista boot up fine, but unless the correct
video card connection is selected in the BIOS there is nothing but a black
screen. NO "POTENTIALLY TRUE", NO "GOOD ODDS" about it--with
this mb, it is a FACT!

Been there done that!

|
| While potentially true, good odds that Windows can figure it out once
| installed.
