Does version 615 really exist?

I have been downloading what purports to be version 615
from all sorts of places and everytime I install it it
shows as version 614.

The MS web site talks about a beta refresh file but where
is that downloaded from?

Yes, it does indeed exist! Or at least it does for me.
I have the auto updater set to advise me when updates are
available and today (20th) the auto updater popped up and
offered me the option to download. When I accepted, it
automatically downloaded and
installed 'MicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall.exe'. I checked on
completion and version 615 had been installed.

Have to say that judging from what I read in these
newsgroups, I seem to be one of a small minority who
haven't (so far anyway) had any problems at all with MSAS
upgrades or definitions versions.
Cheers!

Tried all of the sites listed including those from Plun
and after installation all I get is 614.

Empty your Temporary Internet Files (or web browser cache) before trying the
downloads

I have also tried clearing my web browser and removing
all temp internet files etc - still no 615!!

After a dozen tries, doing all the steps recommended, what
ever server that serves my area of the world updated and the
correct 615 build was downloaded from Microsoft. It will
show 6.54 MB (614 is 6.50).

Here is the correct URL for the download...

Jim;
I have an enquiry about others distributing Microsoft software and when I
get an answer, I will post it.

In the meantime a cause for the issue of many receiving 614 has occurred to
me.
I had a similar problem with another popular Microsoft download a few years
ago.
The problem was not Microsoft or the computer.
The cause turned out to be the cache of my ISP.
So while some blame the computer and others blame Microsoft, the problem may
be in the middle as it was for me a while back.

I spoke with my ISP (Wichita State University) and they said
they don't cache files. Whether that is true or not, I
don't know. It is low budget, about $6 a month for 24/7
service.

The web is very nice, but I wonder how many places cache
data enroute? Last week I got an email that was a week old,
where was it waiting and why? It was Hotmail and the
account was getting other mail.

I will look for the answer about MS mirrors. Google
returned a variety of hits on Microsoft mirrors (the exact
search term may vary) but two names came up several times
Softpedia and soft32. MajorGeeks may also be offering
software.

I still have 614 on 1 machine. Other 2 machines were
offered update to 615, but not this one. I try manual
update and MSAS reports NO NEW S/W available!

Iried emptying & cleaning everything (Temp Internet
Files, Cache, Cookies), using IE Tools, and several other
utilities (including Norton Clean/Internet Sweep), but
MSAS Updater still says No New Software found!

What gives with this?
