Is it normal for the machine you're using to cause the remote machine to shut down its Desktop and go to the login screen

I'd like to be able to have a Word or other program's document open on the remote computer but editable by either machine

If that's not possible with Remote Desktop, can you recommend a program that will allow that

Thanks VERY much, in advance, CC

Remote assistance allows you to interact with someone using the console session. XP Pro (until SP2) is not a multi-user workstation, so logging onto a machine with Remote Desktop assumes "session 0" (the console session), which logs off onay user that is currently logged onto that session. The console goes to the "locked" mode when someone is connected via Remote Desktop
