I heard about that P2P downloading hurt the hard disk cuz it allows
downloading and uploading at the same time. Is it true?
Nope. That's absolute rubbish; the drive's platters are spinning and
the armatures are still swinging back and forth, regardless of which way
the electrons are flowing at any given nanosecond. Anyway, uploading
and downloading don't really occur simultaneously, it just seems that
way to our slow perceptive senses. Granted, peer-to-peer networks are a
major source of malware (viruses, Trojans, worms, and spyware), which
can corrupt or erase your data or steal your personal information, but
these can't cause physical damage to the hard drive.
Additionally, does
P2P downloading legal in America?
It depends entirely upon whether or not the license of specific
copyrighted material permits such distribution. In general, the
peer-to-peer sharing of movies and music is prohibited, but you'd need
to determine the precise copyright status of each file to know for sure.
