Does Outlook 2003 and/or Business Contact Manager use SQL

I noticed after installing Outlook 2003 w/Business Contact Manager, that
sqlserver.exe is now running in the background in Windows XP Professional
SP2, which I use. (but only recently installed) I've tried to look up what
database source either use, but the resources on the knowledge base seem to
talk more about what version of a given database rather than what engine is
running it. I just want to make sure that sqlserver.exe did not somehow get
installed through some other program and that it should be running in the
bacground. Thanks in advance.

BCM uses the desktop engine (MSDE) and it installed the SQL Service Manager.

Diane:

It's been said that you could use MS Access to link directly into the BCM
MSDE database. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. Do you
or does anyone else reading this know how?

Thanks,
John
