Does out of office assistant accept meeting requests?

When I have the out of office turned on it seems to accept any meeting
requests that come my way. When I return from vacation people expect me to
attend meetings I am not aware of. Is this normal? I use Office 2003 (WinXP
SP2) and Exchange 2003(win2003 server).

Thanks for your insight,

If you have Outlook set to automatically accept appointments, it does not
matter what the Out of Office Assistant does. It is an independent
function. You may want to set it to not accept automatically.

I don't have outlook set to accept appointments automatically. I am normally
informed of meeting requests and get to accept or decline. It's only when I
have the out of office asst turned on that it accepts meeting requests
automatically. Weird isn't it?
