when i install the nvidia driver they take up more than 350 MB space... when i uninstall them my free hard drive space is 550MB and when i install them i m left with less than 200 MB (around 170 - 180 MB) space and windows start giving me messages that the free space is below critical point.. i have small partition in which the windows is installed and i m not left with any useless program which i can uninstall to free up space.. Moreover the control panel shows that nvidia driver are taking only 82.6 MB..?? wot is the cause..??
Thanks

Hi;
2 spots to check depending on the procedure you follow every time you update
you nv drivers (and others).

1- IF "You" on your own created a C:\TEMP folder and direct/guide/instruct
Windows to it when expanding installation files to actually output such
files. dirs and subs in there.

Clear out All the temporary files in your system as
EACH set of nvDrivers would create a whole slew of TEMP\nvidia v.#***
folders and Subs (if directed to create in said C:\temp**** )

or else:

2- You did not create a C:\TEMP and let the updater(s) have his/their ways
then...
.... each and every new v. from nvidia will create a brand new (specific to
the very version you are installing ) folder (and subs) right down to the
say "45.15, 45.23, 52.03, 53.06 all the while KEEPING the previous 25- 30
MBs for each install. If you started at v.10.13 all the way to 53.16 in
minute steps then imagine the lot"S".

All of that stuff==> ONLY back-ups, no other purposes.
The actual working, active drivers are NOT there at all.

Worthless if you keep the installer(s) handy.

Could/must be a whole lot of other unneeded stuff in there if you went that
route.

Extra: Have a hard look in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP while at it.

Really worth it creating a "C:\Temp" folder, then setting your Environement
Variables for megabytes of
"*.temp" and"
*.tmp"
to it.
One quick look in one location from then on.

Yes its on XP..
But wots the point in restoring... when i can simply uninstall and recover the lost MegaBytes..

I will check out the temp and tmp folder
But i always uninstall the last drivers before installing the new one..
secondly i have also used the Nvidia detonator which is used to delete all the files and entries of nvidia driver from windows.. then i install the new drivers.
Any other possibility..?
Thanks nonetheles

I didn't catch your original post, but system restore will build up unless
you manually remove the previous restore points. You can (if you wish)
either turn off system restore then reboot and turn it back on, or use disk
cleanup and if you go to "more options" you can cleanup all but the last
restore point.

Hope that helps
