I just received a new Vista Business machine. I installed Windows Mobile
Device Center version 6.0.6783 and when I plug in a Windows Mobile 5 device
(Symbol MC70) Windows says it does not recognize the device. Help?

I had the same problem with an Imate PDA, not matter what I did I could not
get the device recognised.

I then reinstalled Vista with the PDA connected and it was recognised
straight away and Windows Mobile Device Centre was installed as part of the
setup routine. (rather than having to download it seperately)

Hope this helps

Iain

You likely went the hard way around it. I can cable sync only with my PDA. I
had to uninstall the 3rd party bluetooth software that came with it and then
install WMDC after that and all was OK.

Thanks, but telling a customer to reinstall Vista is not a solution. I
guess I will have to spend a MSDN support incident to try to get them to
figure it out.

Thanks,

Rick

Rick,
How about letting us know what you find out. I also can't get my HP Ipaq
winth OS 5.0 to sync up. I can read files on my PDA but I keep getting the
message "Active sync encountered a problem on the desktop". I uninstalled
Mobile Device Center and re-installed but nothing seems to work. What a
bummer! I can't find help anywhere.
Thanks
Larry

I am at the same place with My Dell Axim X51. I can connect to my device,
browse it, and even sync the folder, and OneNote, I cannot sync any Outlook
items(calendar, contacts, Task, E-mail). I have Outlook 2007, I wonder if
that has anything to do with it?

You have to uninstall mobile device centre, uninstall activesync and reboot
then install mobile device centre again and you can now sync via cable but
Vista wont support many Bluetooth dongles.
