Hi everyone and Papajohn. I have heard a lot about you. I was wondering if anyone could help please. - This is so annoying. After capturing a video and after clicking "finish" in the wizard, movie maker does not create any files/clips and crashes. The message "Windows movie maker has encountered a problem and needs to close" comes up. What is going on
Thanks for any help guys
Ferdi.

Hi there,

That sounds a bit grim.

Have you ever managed to capture a film clip.
Can you import a film clip aquired else where
If so, can you preview it in both small preview screen or full screen
What sort of computer do you have (speed, free space on hard drive, a Graphics
card that conforms to all of the requirements for Movie Maker)
Have you tried shouting at it (Makes you feel better if nothing else)
Have you tried re-installing Movie Maker 2
Do you have Windows Media Player 9 installed

Greetings Ferdi,

Yes - I have managed to capture before (in MM1)

I am going to assume then that you have not captured in Movie Maker 2.
256MB of ram
25.0GB of free space on c:drive
using Radeon 7500
capture device - ATI Rage Theater
I have media player 9.
Have re-installed MM2 before.

Well you seem to have all that is needed except maybe the latest version of
DirectX 9b (Which I failed to ask you about)

I don't know your capture card, I'm assuming it has firewire abilities. Is that
right?

Also, in the driver settings for your card, If present do you have the various
options selected to enable OpenGL support/emulation and hardware acceleration.
My graphics card has its own Front Side Bus speed selectors and using that I
can overclock the CPU on the graphics card. Not with Movie Maker but with a 3D
rendering program I have it causes problems when the Graphics card CPU is
overclocked.

Failing all else, you might find some benefit from tuning down your graphics
abilities in the system settings to do this click Right click your desktop >
Properties > Settings > Advanced > TroubleShoot. In there you will see a slider
bar which is probably set in the far right position. Moving the selector to the
third from right position might improve matters.
Phew!!! - Please help.

If all of this fails to help, stand about six feet from the computer and shout
at it very loudly and slowly. It won't fix the problem, but it may make you
feel better.

Hello Joh

First of all I wanna say a big thank you. Tuning my hardware accelaration down worked to an extent. It is now creating the files/clips. BUT the picture is jerky. As soon as i click on the capture video and the capture video wizard opens the mouse/cursor sticks and the picture is jerky. Please, once again help me. You have helped a lot already in solving the one problem. Thanks in advance
Ferdi
