Does NOD32 beat McAfee

What difference does it make? As long as you or your friend are happy with
a product and it's doing its job, that should be all that counts.

NOD 32 is in a different league altogether. Cheaper, Faster, Better
Security, only downside being it can be tricky to set up for newbies.

No competition! I like NOD32 better than any of the 15 or so AV
programs that I've tried or used. NOD32 is small, fast, very
configurable and easy to update.

McAfee was great back in the Shareware days of the mid 90's but after
that they got into a bloatware race with Norton.

I thought that McAfee was allot better, thanks to your replies I'll change
to NOD32. McAfee is getting a bit old for me now, and I'm getting a new
laptop so I'll figure out NOD32 on it.

Good luck. A lot of folks use McAfee (or Norton) because that's what
Dell and other brands shipped on their PC.

Most companies that provide their employees with laptops require the
use of a specific AV product which also extends to any home PC used to
connect to the their networks. Norton's Enterprise version ( and maybe
McAfee has the same type of program available) is a much cleaner
program with far less consumer bells & whistles and eye candy.

All of the above issues add to the popularity - and reputations - of
McAfee and Norton whereas a number of the higher end AV products such
as Sophos are geared for larger businesses and don't offer much in the
way of consumer products.

Many of the lesser known products offer better performance than the
big 2.

I've found that most of the European software that I've used is
superior in quality to comparable US products. While I wish Eset well,
I hope that their future products continue on the same high quality
path.
