I'm sorry that you're having such problems. Yes, networking and
Internet sharing work.

Are you using a proxy server program to share the Internet? What
program? XP's Internet Connection Sharing isn't a proxy server. If
you don't have a proxy server, run Internet Explorer on the client, go
to Tools | Internet Options | Connections | LAN Settings and clear all
of the boxes on the screen.

If that doesn't help, please post another news group message with
details of the situation. We only know what you tell us, so include a
full description of the network hardware and software, how you've
configured it, what works, what doesn't, troubleshooting steps that
you've tried, complete text of all error messages, etc.

Steve
well, at least i'm not as frustrated as poor kas
(anymore).
but i also need help with similar problem: i cant seem to
get ICS to work on the client, even tho connection icons
for network and internet connection on host show in tray
of client. when i put an address in IE, it gives me
dialup connection box, wants to use its modem instead of
network ICS connection thru host. if i say work offline,
nothing happens (of course).

i have the network (2 xp pcs) going pretty well i think,
sharing files and printer, computers seeing each other,
etc.

i tried what you suggested to kas, cleared all boxes on
lan settigs screen, went back to IE and tried to surf,
and of course again it wanted to dial up a connection.

how do i tell IE to use ICS instead of dialing up?
thanks

On the client, run Internet Explorer, click Tools | Internet Options |
Connections, and configure it to never dial.

Hi steve please help me. First sorry for intrupting this
newsgroup, I can't find anybody else to help me.

Here are my problem. I recently bought 2 wireles adapter
cards/802.11g for my pc/xp pro and laptop/xp home. I
followed the home networking wizard and run the netsetup
disc on all the laptop. Pc as the main comp ie connected
to the internet via a dial up modem. Sttup a few folders
for sharing. No firewall install.

Problem is my laptoop cant find my pc oin my network
place and vice versa. At one time the laptop can share
internet with the pc. Most of the time it cant. I tried
to run the wizard again and again and now nothing work -
no internet sharing, no see other comp.

I heard someone said that for peer-peer/adhoc you only
need 2 adapter/no need for access point or router. That
is what I'm trying to do.

Please help. Again sorry for interupting...
