Napster doesn't work on Windows ME.

: I really, really don't want to start something off here, but
......isn't
: napster now the only legal option of these, for downloading music?

: Got to go now.......

Not if you live in Canada! :~))

MusicMatch Jukebox works just fine with Win ME. Pretty much the same rules
as all the other legal download sites:

No subscription fee
99 Cents (US) per download (albums $9.99 sometimes cheaper Occasionally
more depending on artist & record Co. )
format is DRM controlled WMA files
Burn to removable disk 5 times per musiclist (change the music list and you
get another 5 more burns)
You can't directly burn mp3s, but you can burn to an audio Cd and rip THAT
to a CD.
Basic software is free, enhanced software is around $20 US (worth it, IMHO)

From what I've seen it's a pretty good music manager, though it does eat up
more HD space than I would like. I have heard there are some gaps in the
selections, but I haven't been disappointed so far. It's pretty good for
looking for browsing and sampling artists new to you. I like it.

Lite, but make sure you choose the option NOT to install

Option or no option, it's spyware AFAIC

Navhelper is, yes, the Ares site confirms the reasons for it being
included and also informs you that Ares can be installed WITHOUT
Navhelper.

I installed Ares Lite without Navhelper and AdAware found nothing
untoward.

Do you know differently about Ares still being spyware even without
installing Navhelper Steven?

Paul,
It seems we've got our wires crossed.

My point was, it comes with NavHelper (aka NavExcel) bundled in with it,
which is confirmed spyware. Thus, IMHO, it is spyware, regardless of whether
it gives a choice of whether to install the actual spyware component itself
or not.

Hope this makes sense....

Sorry Steven - I see where you are coming from now. I thought originally
that you were suggesting it was still spyware even if Navhelper wasn't
installed.
Hope this makes sense....

Yes, thanks :-)
