Does Microsoft Word come with Windows XP Home OEM or do I
have to buy it separetly? Because I just ordered a copy
and I wanted to know if I needed to get it.

Hi,

No, it doesn't. Word is part of the Office suite, which many manufacturers
bundle on their preinstalled systems (thus leading to the confusion that it
is part of Windows). You need to buy it separately.

Microsoft Word is not part of the purchase of Windows XP. Whether it is
included in the total OEM you purchased is a different question. Look on your
receipt.

Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever come with Word or any other application software. This is a component of Microsoft Office, and can be obtained either by buying Microsoft Office, buying Word standalone, or by buying a copy of Microsoft Works Suite.

If your previous computer, running Windows 9X, came with Word, it wasn't because Windows 9X came with it, it was because the company who sold it to you chose to bundle it (or Microsoft Office) as part of the package it sold.

If the only part of the Office suite you need is Word, you can get it as
part of the Works Suite.
