Hi, I recently upgraded to vista from Windows XP Media Center Edition, But
now my ACER RC6 IR Remote Control does not work. I do not even know how to
begin to try and make it work. How do i enable my remote control to work
with Vista's Media Center?

This remote came with my Laptop, i want it to work again?!

Thanks for your help!

This is driving me nuts!

Hi Mike,

I don't know whether your remote works in Vista, but if you don't get the
answer here, try contacting Acer, or whomever makes the remote, for an
answer. Also, you could try using google to search the Internet for
information on the point. Just some thoughts.

Oh, I've tried to google it. I've gotten little to no results. I'm just not
even sure where i would check on vista. or even xp for that matter. Is
there a Driver? or some sort of RC6 Protocol IR Receiver driveR? or what?
I know that when i press DVD menu and the record button for 5 seconds the
remote will flash twice. but, the computer still does not respond to it.

Do you have a TV tuner card installed? Have you gone through the TV setup in
Media Center? That is the only place I have had to go to set up my IR remote so
that Media Center would recognize it. In Device Manager, do you have an entry
for Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver under Human Interface Devices?

Hi Mike, I've just bought a new laptop with vista home premium. I couldn't
get the remote to work via the laptops built in receiver. The help line for
the laptop, told me that vista doesn't support the philips RC6 protocol. This
struck me as strange, as it's a microsoft remote ! The remote was supplied
with a rather 'large' USB receiver, which I have to use. It's really
annoying, having to cart around it around, and I've also been searching the
net to se if there's a downloadable driver. Anyone know of one?
