Does Internet Explorer use color profiles?

Hi,

I would like to know if IE uses colour profiles or if there are any plans to
introduce them?

One problem that I have is the incorrect display of colour pictures on web
pages.

Even if the original picture was created with sRGB colour space the correct
display depends on the client monitor.

sRGB was designed with CRT monitors in mind. So, most of the CRT monitors
have a colour space close to sRGB and the web pages are displayed quite
accurately.

With the TFT monitors however the problem is more visible since their colour
space differ substantially from the sRGB.

I tried changing different colour profiles for my TFT monitor but IE does
not make any difference. The only app I could use, that makes usage of the
colour profiles is Adobe PhotoShop. But to run PhotoShop for each JPEG I
browse with IE is a nightmare:)

The first move that IE should do is to try to display at least the sRGB
pictures correctly by taking in consideration the colour profile of the
monitor.

..

I would appreciate any comments on this matter.

Thanks,

Iulian
