Does FSB increase make much difference.

I am currently Running a XP1800+ @ 266MHz FSB and am upgrading to a XP3200+
@ 400MHz FSB

I am also upgrading the memory to PC3200.

Am I going to notice much of an increase in performance?

The in processor speed is only about 500MHz (25%) with this equate to a 25%
increase in speed or will it be more with increaseing the FSB speed?

If you are running processor intensive applications you will notice the
difference.I use an over clocked 3000+XP because I do photo processing and
I do music recording and audio processing on this machine. Both can be
processor intensive.

The things that really made me feel like I have a 'hot box' were:
Going to DLS or Cable from a 56k modem.
Going to serial RAID 0 from standard EIDE drives.
Going to WindowsXP with 1G of memory.
the last thing was
Going to the 3000+ (400mHz FSB) from the 1800+

A general rule of thumb is that if you double the CPU speed of a system, you
will notice the difference obviously.

Well, the XP3200+ enjoys something like 44% higher clockrate (2.2GHz -
1.53GHz), not 25%. You will see something like that in performance
increase as well, thanks to the FSB keeping up with the pace. Also you
have a bigger cache.

But I'd like to get your attention to the fact that the Athlon64 3000+
is available at about the same price as AthlonXP 3200+. Likewise, the
new Athlon64 2800+ sells at prices similar to AthlonXP 3000+. And the
64's seem (despite their lower 'rating') a bit faster, even on 32-bit.
