Does Cool&Quiet for AMD work in Vista Beta 2?

Cool'n'Quiet is not O.S. dependent. It is a
combination of settings in your BIOS and the
appropriate CPU driver.

If you want to find out how it works, read you
owners manual.

Maybe the question should have been....Are there any Vista capable AMD
drivers out there ...the ones on the AMD website will not install give the
message they are for XP/2000 only??
The reason I am asking is because I have a device that has no drivers and
each time Vista starts it looks for drivers....its labelled as an unknown
device nd I have no idea what it is.

If you look in the Device Manager for Processors
your CPU should be listed there. If it is, look
at the Properties, then Driver Details. If
there is a files named AmdK8.sys then you have
the AMD driver that support the Cool'n'Quiet
feature. It's in both my x86 and x64
installations of Vista and the Cool'n'Quiet is
functioning in both versions.

Check the device's properties/details tab in Device Manager for info about
the device and post back. Start with the device ID. Don't be surprised if
it turns out to be the game port on an audio card. Some beta drivers for
Vista do not enable all functions of the devices they support.

Hi Colin
the Hardware ids is ACPI\PNP02F
*PNPB02F
If this is the Game Port...which I never use...how do I stop it from trying
to load??
I am running dual boot with XP...........so I never installed the mobo
drivers under Vista...should I be doing this???
