Does BCM really require MYSQL?

I thought that only when I started outlook with BCM will MYSQL be initialised.

However, that doesn't seem to be the case?

Is there anyway I can only turn on MYSQL when I start outlook, instead of
turning it on when windows start? I have another CRM software that cannot run
as long as MYSQL is running.

I was thinking of initialising MYSQL only when running outlook with BCM, and
not at other times. Is this possible?

Sorry, I meant MS SQL.
So what I meant to say was

I don't know the answer, but you could switch the BCM SQL instance's
service to start manually. It is possible that BCM may start it
automatically if it detects that the service is stopped. IF that works,
you would stil have to turn it off manually after shutting down BCM.

Start|Right-Click My Computer|Manage|Services and Applications|Services

Select the SQL service, probably labeled MICROSOFTSMLBIZ.

Right-click to Stop or Start, or Properties to set start-up options.
