I have noticed that with the over 44,000 messages on this news group, that
you can get lost pretty quick. Does anyone look to answer messages more
than a few days old? If someone replies say 5 days or more, does anyone
scroll old messages or do you keep to the last day or so?
Just curious
I've got my newsreader (Forte Agent - the best Windows newsreader,
period,). set to automatically watch any thread I participate in. So
if anyone responds to one of my posts tomorrow or a week from now I'll
see it.
So if you asked a question, I answer and then you follow-up, I'll see
it and answer (unless somebody else does beforehand).
The smartest thing anyone can do when they come here with a question
is search the newsgroup in their newsreader or via Groups *before*
asking. 9 X out of 10 they'll find the answer to their question
without asking.
I've only become active here in the past 3 weeks and in that short
time I've seen new threads started asking the same question that had
been just asked a few days earlier (sometimes even the same day, in a
different thread).
If you don't find what you're looking for via your newsreaders search,
try searching the group via Google Groups. They go back to day one.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
