A cap that covers the motherboard's inactive monitor port when a video card
is in place.

Yesterday I about had a heart attack when I moved my son's computer from one
room to another and he hooked the monitor to the original port instead of
the one on the card. No harm done, just no signal to the monitor after a
week of agonizing and a hundred dollars spent.

We got it straightened out in two minutes, but it got me thinking: that
unused/inactive port should be capped.

Maybe I can make my first million on this one.

Cinch, among others I'm sure, makes what they term "dust caps" for D-sub
connectors and I'm sure that if you look for a while you find similar
caps for almost any other connector. If you're going to make your
million with this idea you are going to have to do something at least a
bit original like a flag which pops out of the cap bearing the message
"No dummy, use the other one!" when any sort of plug approaches it.
