Hi all,

Just installed Win2000 on an older machine and it does not
want to shutdown by itself. I need to power it off
manually. In Win98, it was powering off automatically.

Now when browsing the device manager, i can see that there
is an unknow device and nowhere i can see an ACPI icon.

Could it be possible the ACPI that is not installing
because Windows can't find a driver ?

Thanks for your input !

Check your BIOS settings. The drivers are stock with Win2K and should
auto-install.

Thanks, I meant to say if it is VIA chipset. Appreciate your catching it.

So many AMD motherboards used to use a VIA chipset for example the Asus
A7V333-X, A7V8X, Gigabyte GA-7VA, GA-7VAXP, Epox EP-8K9A2, Abit KD7, NF7-S,
etc., that I suppose I always relate them with AMD and that just pops up in
my frail mind.

Personally, I prefer Intel chipsets with Intel (not VIA chipsets) because
they are more stable and compatable with the Intel processor. Probably will
get a bad reaction from stating this but that is only my own opinion.

He can look:
Here for the 4in1 drivers http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=300.
Here is locale for the AMD-751,761,762,756,766
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_2336~3226,00.html.
Here is the Nvidia nforce2:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp ,
and I already listed the Intel sight so this covers all bases, heh.

Thanks!

I totally agree !

I prefer Intel chip-sets. I have run into many problems with different OS
version with VIA. Intel does it right.
