I installed Access 2000 runtime on my computer,
however, I am unable to open the mdb file from a shared
folder. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,

A little bit more information would help, instead of " I am unable to open".
Does it come up with the "Open with" dialog? Dos an error occur? Does the
screen go blank? Does the doorbell ring?

Fritz,

No, it doesn't come with "Open With" Option. File tab has
only two options - Close, exit. I tried
entering the name of the database in properties of
shortcut. If I don't specify the name of the database in
shortcut, then it says "no database file specified".

Do I just have to copy the runtime files from CD and
run access? Or after I copy the files, I need to
run script to install the software. I tried both ways,
but it didn't help.

Do I have to install something else also besides the
Access runtime?

Can you outline the steps to install runtime for me,
will be great help!

Thank you,

A file used in the Runtime does not have access to any of the normal Access User
Interface (menus, toolbars, and the db Window). The Runtime is only useful for
"finished" applications where a startup form has been specified and custom menus and
toolbars have been set up to allow the user to "get at" all of the required objects.
If the file you open has none of these things you will just have a blank screen.
