Do you have any idea how many people are using a 9600 on Windows that are
not having problems?
No, do you?
If your going to add cards to your computer you'll have
to learn to deal with problems.
I would say if ATI is going to create problems, THEY
ought to deal with them, and the problems they cause their
customers. They
haven't. They just put out a new model, and new technology
that probably doesn't work either!
The best thing you can do is make a list of
your system(and what card you removed(did you uninstall the drivers)),
Yep, did it all by the book. ATI's book that is. But I
re-installed XP
after initially installing the AIW 9600, so previous
drivers aren't an issue
this time around. And ATI this time was also the first
installed software.
This card doing this on a new, clean install of XP. Its
all installed on a new Asus
MB, and new PC3200 RAM.
what
versions of O/S and ATI software your using and what you've done so far to
correct the problem and ask here.
ATI? The latest, May 2005.
Microsoft said that they have reported this to ATI, and ATI
has NO FIX!
More than likely it's software but it
could also be something like a weak/bad power supply.
Three power supplies, one of which is new, were tried with
this setup,
it happens with all of them.
As far as price goes
the 9600 is old(though still useful) technology.
When it works, it's nice, but it doesn't work for long, and
Windows blue
screens of death won't even let the computer restart
because, as they say,
they are trying to keep the computer from being damaged. I
shut it down
and when I start it back up, the error report takes me to a
website saying
this is "caused by ATI, and they have NO SOLUTION. As I
remember it,
it was reported quite some time ago....and many times
apparently.
