When I try to open a document brought over from Windows 98SE
to Windows XP Home I receive a warning window stating that
the document is not a WIN 32 application. How can I
convert/manipulate the old docs so I can use them in WIN XP
home??

You should not be getting "win32 application" messages in regards to data
files. Check those files with an antivirus program to be sure that they
really are data files and not viruses pretending to be data files.

If the files are clean, the next step is to check that you have a program
installed that is capable of reading the file type involved. Example: If
they are Word Perfect files, Windows XP is an operating system and as such
does not have the capability to read these files with its basic text
editors. Instead, you'll need Word Perfect (or a program that can read Word
Perfect files) installed on the XP computer before you can utilize the
files.
