I had my Documents, Pictures, etc. folders relocated to another hard drive
and the drive letter got changed when I installed a flash card reader that
took it's drive letter. Now Windows doesn't recognize the location of these
folders. How do I reset the location of these folders so that Windows can use
them again?

In the 'Start Search' box, type

regedit<Enter>

Navigate to:

"HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
"

& edit the affected paths to reflect the new drive letter.

oh, common MVP - there is a much simpler way. Hacking registry is not
necessary and can't be guaranteed to be complete.

Just let him know how to assign another drive letter to a flash reader, so
he can assign original drive letter to the drive with documents.

Actually his way is better. since Windows will likely automatically reassign
the drive letters again.
