I got the "brilliant" idea that I would consolidate all
the files in the Documents and Settings folder so there
would only be one folder instead of "All Users"
and "Margaret".

Now it's all messed up and there are two of all the icons
on my desktop. If I try to delete one icon they both
delete and if I add icons it adds two.

What can I do?!?

I suggest you pack up your machine in its original box and return to
vendor.
And don't mess with things you don't understand.

Why are you here if you're not here to help? It's my
understanding these message boards are to help other
people. But, since I've only been using PC's for 11
years I guess I'm not "competent" enough to understand.
Or, perhaps you aren't capable of admitting you don't
have an answer. Either way, you're still a jerk.

well obviously not, otherwise you wouldn't have tried such a STUPID
procedure without finding out about it first.

You are awesome. Creating a new user worked like a charm. Everything is back like it should be. Thanks for the help!
