I can't open this folder. Permission needed? I am the only established
user of this computer. How do I change the permissions for this folder(s)?

There is no "Documents and Settings" folder in Vista, just a junction (hard
link) by that name to provide backwards compatibility. It merely redirects
older programs to the %UserProfile% and %AppData% folders in Vista. Leave
the permissions unchanged.

It's not a real folder. It's used for compatibility purposes and redirects
to the Users folder.

It's not a real folder. It's a Junction put there for compatibility
purposes. Most of what you're looking for there will be in C:\Users

They are not folder. They are Junction Points, redirecting to the new
locations. They are very handy and now in Vista they can point to network
locations, like symlinks in Linux. You can make them with the MKLINK
command.
