documentation on spreadsheet import?

Does anyone know where to look / has anyone seen documentation
of the use of $ instead of ! when using Jet SQL to import from
a spreadsheet?


(Excel would refer to a cell range as 'mypage!a1:a5', but I find
that my INSERT query will only work with 'mypage$a1:a5')

Thanx! I was particularly interested in the reference to FTP
- I thought there had been some way to FTP data, but I haven't
been able to find anything for years.

Also chagrined to notice that I'm using .XLS instead of #XLS,
and have been for years -- there must have been an unheralded
change to Jet that made that possible.
