I am preparing to re-subnet my network and need some help locating procedures
on how to migrate WINS and DHCP to a new server and new subnet.

Any help, suggestions or information on where to find documentation is
appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm not sure what you're asking here - if you are changing the entire subnet
(for example, from 10.1.0.x/255.255.255.0 to 10.1.1.x/255.255.255.0) then
you don't want to migrate anything since all your addresses will change.
Perhaps if you provide more details on the proposed change and what you
expect both before and after that might help.

Richard:

I curently have 3 subnets:

204.78.xxx.xxx Active
10.55.1.xxx Active
10.55.2.xxx Active (migrating to this Subnet)

NT4 DHCP Server on the 204 Subnet
W2000 DHCP Server on 10.55.1.xxx Subnet
W2000 Primary WINS on the 204 Subnet
W2000 Backup WINS on the 204 Subnet

The services listed listed above will be migrated to a primary and backup
server on the 10.55.2.XXX subnet:

One Primary Windows 2003 server running DHCP, WINS annd Print Services.

One Backup Windows 2003 Server running DHCP, WINS annd Print Services

The current AD DC / DNS Server will be migrated to the 10.55.2.XXX subnet.

What I am looking for is documentation on, instuctions or the the steps
required to perfom this migration. For example. Do I lower the lease times
on the existing DHCP servers? At what point do I activate the new DHCP
servers and deactivate the old servers? Same type of questions regrding WINS

Thanks Richard,

Dave
