Document viewer 'lost'?

On opening windows I get:
1st box:
Document Viewer
Please wait while Windows configures Document Viewer

2nd box:
Document Viewer
The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk
that is not available.
Insert the 'Document Viewer' disk and click OK.

I do not have a 'Document Viewer' disk. If I press cancel it keeps repeating
these two boxes. To exit I have to press Control, Alt and Delete and
force quit the program.

Not only is this irritating it means I can't use my scanner as it needs the
Document viewer.
Does anyone have any suggestions? PLEASE HELP
