....I asked this before and received no answer, perhaps I worded it badly.

The document search function in Word 2002 doesn't seem to work. It did for
a while but now it doesn't. I keep getting "no results found," even when I
know there should be results. It's very frustrating. It seems the indexing
service isn't doing its job.

1) Am I doing something wrong?
2) Is there a way to restart the indexing service?

My find file on my computer (XP) works, but I hate having a function that
doesn't function.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
One quick question on this. It's not clear, are you
trying to find, say, any documents on your computer that
contain a certain piece of text, or are you looking for a
specific document by title?

Also, if you could provide the specific steps you're
using to do this it would help considerably in trying to
diagnose the problem.

Thanks!
Eric

I'm trying to find documents which can be searched for in the Word 2002
program through either name or text. I'm not looking for the "find in
document" function (Control F), but the "Search" function. It is on the
task pane as "search". As mentioned, it worked previously, but seems to
have stopped. That's why I'm wondering if there's a way to reset and
restart the indexing service which comes up when "search options" is clicked
on the basic search screen.

Please ask if it's still not clear .

Much appreicated.

Okay, I think I understand now, and I don't think I have
an answer for you. My apologies. You probably want to
post your question anew so that people will see it again.

Once again, sorry I couldn't come up with an answer, and
good luck!

E.
