Does that mean that TWAIN does not work with Vista?
No -- I am using TWAIN under VISTA with my HP SJ5P scsi connected
scanner by using the even older HP Deskscan 2.9 (which many of us
preferred to the later software the used Precisionscan (?).
It works fine and all the HP utilities in including the Copier Utility
which is what I mainly use the scanner for works just as it did under
XP and W2K where again I had to use TWAIN because WIA did not recognize
the connection.
What that means is that certain functions that you might say are called
from the VISTA end like the Fax & Scan functions built into VISTA don't
work.
But that does not stop me from pushing scans from the scanner to where
I want, although I've not tried faxing because I have a freestanding
fax machine.
I checked the other day and both Irfanview the Image viewer/editor can
call for a scan and Microsoft WORD 202/XP can scan into a document from
a menu item within WORD. This last surprised me since I didn't try to
get that working!
PS Have you downloaded the Fully Featured VISTA software now on their
web site?
HP Officejet Full Feature software and driver
05-2007 8.0.0 - 312.77M

Note the other software there including a Network Patch for VISTA if
you are using a Network feature on the AIO and also I'd download the
Software Removal Tool and run that before trying anything further.
Check the Installation instructions for the file you download to
install the software and be certain whether or not you install the
software before the USB connection to the PC is made or if you connect
first. Different models seem to differ on the sequence. If you get it
wrong and VISTA's Found New Hardware pops up cancel it until it stops
rearing its ugly head or it may install a stripped down driver that may
be in VISTA "out of the box".
Hope that helps.
