Some time ago, I remember reading in one of Word's groups something about
how to restore or rescue a garbled document in Word. It suggested to get to
the <rescue> option somewhere in the drop down box and save or open this
document. Cannot find that box and option.
Does anyone around here know how to restore a garbled document?

File, Open, select the document and then click on the arrow to the right of
the OPEN button and select Open and Repair from the choices presented. (This
is in Word 2003).

If you don't have the Open and Repair option Terry mentioned, try this: In
the File Open dialog, scroll down through the list for "Files of type" and
select "Recover Text from Any File."

Dear Suzanne and Terry,
thank you very much! Sure, I found this Repair option! It works fine.
Many thanks.
