Can anyone help please with regard to the Statistics Tab
and Total Editing Time. Is the total editing time stated
the time actually spent working on the document or does it
include the time it may sit on the screen (in the
background) whilst working on other word documents?

For example, if I open a doc at say 9 a.m., then leave it
to work on something else (without saving or closing it,
and get back to it a couple of hours later, would the
total editing time show the 2 hours, or merely the time I
had been actively working on the doc (say 40 minutes).

Also, I believe the revision number only alters each time
the document is re-opened.

I am using Word 97 on Windows 98.

Am I on the right track? (This query is the result of
a "friendly debate" amongst siblings!)

Thanks

to put it mildly, this information is simply not reliable.
Don't try to use it for anything...

It's useful for one thing. When I forget to start my timer when I start
working on a document, I can check the Editing Time and add that to the
chargeable time. If this happens before I've saved the doc, I have to
remember to check the Properties *before* saving. <g>

And are you absolultely sure that the "Editable time" Word gives you
actually corresponds to the exact time you've spent *working* on the
document? I've only ever seen complaints that what it shows you has
little relationship to reality...

In such cases it seems pretty accurate. Keep in mind that this is usually a
matter of 5 or 10 minutes.
